South African Grain Farmers Association is a Non-Profit Organisation that is incorporated under South African legislation.

The organisation was founded by grain farmers from various grain-producing regions of South Africa in June 2018. South African Grain Farmers Association is a grain commodity organisation widely known as “SAGRA”. 

SAGRA is a voluntary membership-based organisation that represents the interests of small-scale and developing commercial grain farmers in the South African grain industry.

The objectives of SAGRA include:

The object of the organisation is to serve the interest of communal, subsistence, smallholder and commercial African producers in the Republic of South Africa and with primary objectives:

Our primary objectives

  1. To serve as a mouthpiece of the grain and oilseeds producers in the Republic of South Africa.

  2. To organise the substance, communal, smallholder and commercial producers.

  3. To promote, drive and deliver effective and impactful development to all African grain and oilseeds producers in South Africa.

  4. To assist associate members to play a significant role in the agricultural sector’s industrial and grain value chain development.

  5. To participate in the land ownership drive for grain producers.

  6. To support a mechanisation drive for African grain and oilseed producers.

  7. To promote a new cooperative drive for new grain logistics and grain value revolution.

  8. To capacitate African producers to produce more to maximise profits.

  9. To establish and ensure the participation of African producers in the grain value chain

Secondary objectives of the organisation include:

  1. To capacitate the African producers through comprehensive training.

  2. To mediate disputes amongst members and others regarding any issues affecting grain production, finance and marketing.

  3. To liaise and collaborate with government, financial institutions and production inputs suppliers as well as development agencies.

  4. To ensure the organisation’s funds and properties are properly managed and well accounted for.

  5. To facilitate efficient communication amongst the members.
